After decades of confusion,frustration,mistakes,detours,u-turns, and coming to see how wrong I could be, I've finally come to believe that true freedom only comes to those who are wise enough and sufficiently spiritually mature to give up once and for all that most narcissistic of all needs: the need to be RIGHT. This is never so easy as it sounds, I am convinced that this only occurs in the human soul when one is wise enough, or broken-hearted enough, whichever comes first, to surrender the vaulted ego to the much higher consciousness that is the Spirit of unconditional love. As Einstein so wisely put it " We cannot solve any problem out of the same consciousness that created it." And neither can we hope to solve our vexing human problems, either personally or globally, as long as we cling to the sick idea that our agenda just happens to God's will, or that we happen to know what is best for others. Freedom can only flow from a life lived simply where the ego has come to accept the truth that we human beings are not in charge and that all we are really responsible for is to become humble and conscientious stewards of the greatest MYSTERY there is: LOVE. Once we know that what is required of us is to be love's instrument, grace happens, suffering makes sense, shame evaporates, guilt lifts like a fog, and peace dawns. And those who were once absolutely convinced that God would have them be correct, or defend the faith, or impose their point of view, discover the great miracle that is Serenity. For once one dares to pray "Thy Kingdom come and MY kingdom go" , and really mean it, freedom follows...
