I'm an authentic, down to earth, outgoing woman who, thanks to gardening and birding, has recently rediscovered a love for the outdoors and feel as though I've come full circle back to some of my core passions and values. When not in the outdoors, I most enjoy the conversation and company of warm, intelligent and well-rounded people with a palatte that leans towards ethnic and spicy foods and a love of travel and foreign cultures.
Sustainability social justice and human rights are causes close to my heart. I can't stand waste, superficiality or ignorance. I enjoy people who are engaged in something of substance and who gravitate towards healthy lifestyles that are inclusive rather than exclusive.
I resonate most with people who question the status quo rather than seek to be at the top societal ladders that are built on the sweat and tears of others. I consider materialism and arrogance to be the height of superficiality and prefer the company of those who have forsaken greed for a simpler, greener lifestyle (Less is More).
I think that affluent societies that encourage their members to consume their way to happiness have done a great disservice to humankind. I value efforts to rebuild communities through activities which enable us to reconnect with others...be they neighbors, co-workers, the person across from you at a bar or cafe or individuals on the otherside of the country or world.
My Ideal Person:
I'm looking for some birding buddies/nature enthusiasts in the Bay Area to bird and hike with on the weekends. Ideally I'd be able to practice my "birding Spanish" with you in preparation for my future travels afar to track down birds in Mexico, Spain, Central and South America. If we click, perhaps we could plan some long weekends to visit "birding hotspots" in the U.S. or a full on adventure to the mountains of Mexico, Bolivia or Turkey.
